This collection is comprised of a letter written from Wayman Crow to William Greenleaf Eliot dated 2 February 1853 which clearly indicates that the name “Eliot Seminary” be used for the first time when referencing the university, as well as the university's charter and constitution.

The collection contains Washington University yearbooks from 1903 through the present. Years without publication of a yearbook are also indicated. The books are arranged chronologically by year published. Unbound materials are listed at the end. Volume numbering is partially inconsistent due to title changes. Until 1941 yearbooks contained information on the previous years’ class which is reflected in the dates in square brackets following each entry.
