Scope and Contents Fragment of the Roman de la Poire, a medieval French romance written by Thibaut, an imitator of Guillaume de Lorris, in the 13th century. It is influenced by the Roman de la Rose in describing the onset of love in terms of allegory and in its frequent use of the first person. The title is derived from a central scene where the damsel shares with her lover a pear that she has peeled with her teeth.
