Autograph letter signed from Hooker to "My good frind and correspondent," offering Christmas greetings and inquiring about family. Mr. Hooker complains of his gout but resolves to bear the affliction patiently, for God alone is the "great physician of all souls." He also speculates that the French theaten to declare war any day, waiting to lull the British into complacency before striking. 2 pages.
