The David Hughes Papers consists of photocopies of a personal log maintained by Hughes during his flight training at naval air stations in Pensacola and Jacksonville, Florida, and in San Diego, California, from April 18, 1943, to April 10, 1944. Also included are a photocopy of an additional short story written by Hughes, photographs, and copies of Washington University Magazine featuring articles concerning Hughes personal log.

These papers comprise of Mackenzie’s notes from courses that he taught at Washington University, a few personal writings, and numerous items that chronicle his interest in military matters from World War I and World War II.

Scope and Contents The Walter M. Goldschmidt Papers includes approximately 400 letters written by Goldschmidt to his parents, Herman and Gertie Goldschmidt, during his time in the European Civil Affairs Division, 1943-1946, in England, France, Belgium and Germany. Topics of note include a visit to the Goldschmidt hometown in Biebesheim, Germany, the concentration camp in Flossenbürg, Germany, and finding the parents of Fred Katz in Brussels.
