The Jarvis Thurston Papers consist primarily of correspondence relating to Washington University's Department of English and its visiting writers program. The most significant part of the Thurston collection is the correspondence from James T. Farrell to Thurston and Van Duyn. These letters are of a more personal nature and often discuss literary matters such as Van Duyn's work. A small group of manuscripts, notably two drafts of a Thurston short story, "The Cross," is also included.

Abstract

Harry Brookings Wallace had a long history with Washington University. It started with his uncle, Robert S. Brookings, and continued with Wallace becoming a board member, a president and acting chancellor of the university. The collection documents Harry Brookings Wallace's work with the university, and his roles in St. Louis business history. The materials in the collection include correspondence, publications, personal materials, photographs, and scrap books.

Scope and Contents The collection documents Murray Weidenbaum’s involvement at Washington University; his work with several companies, commissions, committees, and organizations; and his work under several U.S. Presidents. The collection does not include any correspondence with U.S. Presidents or any personal papers.
