The Recognitions includes manuscripts, source, and publishing materials, including notebooks primarily maintained by Gaddis during the late 1940s while travelling in Panama and Europe. See also Series 7. Short Fiction.

Description 2118 pages. Typescript extensively corrected and annotated throughout in holograph. The corrections, annotations and revisions frequently extending over the blank verso of the typescript sheets. Includes material from false starts, later incorporated, and an early story variation, 'Ducadame." Also includes galley revision pages, several proof pages, and drafts of correspondence including to Sheri Martinelli and Harvard Fund solitation letter with notes. No sequential order. 12...
