Biographical Information

Francis Marion "Frank" Curlee, Jr., the postcard's recipient, was born October 6, 1916, to attorney Francis M Curlee, Sr. and Lucille Schraubstadter Curlee of St. Louis. In 1943, he enlisted in the Air Corps as a private. While home on furlough in February, 1944, Frank died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, apparently accidental. At the time of his death, he was heir to a $50,000 trust fund established by his uncle, the late Shelby Hammond Curlee, president of Curlee Clothing Company. About Aida, the postcard's sender, nothing further is known.
