Historical Information

Herbert Yellin (January 24, 1935 - June 13, 2014) was an American publisher.  Born in Malden, Massachusetts, Yellin served in the United States Navy as Yeoman First Class. In 1960, he moved to California and lived most of his life in the San Fernando Valley.  Yellin founded Lord John Press in 1978, focusing on publishing limited editions of major American authors including Donald Barthelme, Samuel Beckett, John Cheever, Thomas Berger, Ray Bradbury, William Burroughs, John Updike, Raymond Carver, William Everson, John Gardner, Stephen King, Ross Macdonald, Normal Mailer, John Hawkes, Joyce Carol Oats, Robert Parker, Walker Percy, John Barth, Laura Riding, and Eudora Welty.
