Rexroth, Kenneth to Deutsch, Babette, 1952 October 28
Item — Box: 1, Folder: 13
Autographed letter signed, 2 pages. San Francisco. eared Deutsch might think his review of [Poetry in our time] vulgar, he wants only to sell the book. He first reviewed books in the Chicago Post while he was in high school. Journalese easy to lapse into: Hecht, Samuel Putnam do, Rexroth's voice on the radio the same that “used to come into the City News Bureau from a speakeasy phone.” Rexroth made a living “reading poetry from a soapbox when I was in my first long pants,” and he was also a pitchman.
