Historical Information

Student Plays were written for English 16 (Techniques of the Modern Drama) taught by Professor William G. B. Carson. Later the number of the course changed (1935) to English 306, and later (1948) to English 351-352. The three best plays each year were produced at Washington University and the author of the play judged best won a cash prize.

Arrangement

Student plays are arranged in chronological order, then alphabetical order by play title. This also includes a 1949 drama school report and a few photographs.

Method of Acquisition

This material was donated to the University Archives by William G. B. Carson, noted on March 1, 1966.
