Biographical or Historical Information
The historical items in this collection belonged to Eleanor Levy, who was instrumental in bringing the Martha Graham Dance Company to Baltimore during her early career. Levy and the YMHA/YWHA, the sponsoring organizations, demonstrated a commitment to modern dance as a valued creative expression at a time when support of touring companies was critical to their growth.
