Historical Information
Quadrangle Club was formed in 1910, to produce original musical comedy works by Washington University students. The first show, “Quadrangle Town” was performed in 1911, and was written by students Arthur W. Proetz and Hugh Ferriss. Proceeds raised by this first production were given to the Washington University Athletic Department which faced a funding deficit. Annual performances were generally held in the spring. The location of plays varied year to year, often at University City High School, or other nearby stages.
For further information on early Quadrangle Club productions, see the Arthur W. Proetz Papers, Series 02, held at the University Archives.
