Biographical or Historical Information

Buford L. Pickens (1906-1995) was a faculty member of the Washington University School of Architecture from 1953 to 1974. During his tenure at Washington University, Pickens served as Dean of the School of Architecture (1953-56) and Director of Campus Planning (1956-63). Pickens was also active in numerous commissions and professional groups such as the Society of Architectural Historians, the St. Louis Historical Buildings Commission, and the Missouri Council on Historical Buildings.  Before coming to Washington University, Pickens taught art and architectural history at Ohio University, Wayne State University, and Tulane University.

Method of Acquisition

This material was donated to the University Archives by Buford L. Pickens in 1976 and 1977. An added acquisition was donated in 1983.
