Biographical Information

Carson was first a student at Washington University (A.M. 1916), and then later taught the widely acclaimed drama class known as English 16 for twenty-eight years.  Many plays written by students in this class were performed by Thyrsus, a successful student-run theatrical group that was overlooked by Carson. Highly popular with his students, Carson tutored Tennessee Williams, David Merrick, Marvin Miller, and Mary Wickes.

Method of Acquisition

This material was donated to University Archives by Mrs. William G. B. Carson in April 1980.
