Documented in this collection are various academic building on the Washington University campus and two power stations with large chimneys. Located at the School of Medicine Campus is the Euclid Avenue Power Plant with a round chimney. On the Danforth [Hilltop] Campus near Forest Park Parkway is a Power Plant built in 1901, with a square chimney added in 1925.

This collection contains black and white glass negatives, acetate negatives, and photographic prints. It is arranged by physical size and then in alphabetical order. Approximate measurements for images are listed in inches.

Biographical Information

Photographer Richard W. Seifert graduated from Washington University in 1929 with a degree in mechanical engineering. His senior portrait appears in the 1929 Hatchet yearbook. The photographs in this collection are from approximately the years before, during, and after his time as a student.

This material was donated to the University Archives by Bob Smith on February 7, 2007.
