The publications in the School of Medicine Collection include guidebooks, magazines, and other brochures and pamphlets produced by the Washington University School of Medicine. While the majority of the publications are directed toward prospective students, others discuss current research conducted at the School of Medicine and its institutional history.

Historical Information
The Washington University School of Medicine was founded in 1891 when the St. Louis Medical College affiliated with Washington University, becoming its medical department. Eight years later, the Missouri Medical College also joined the consortium. The School of Medicine allies itself with the leading hospitals of St. Louis, forming the Washington University Medical Center, composed of the Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the School of Medicine.
