College wide events such as Convocation, Eliot Honors, and Fall Honors are filed under “College of Arts and Sciences (General).” Events or programs sponsored by multiple departments are also filed under this heading. Materials from both undergraduate and graduate level programs are included in this collection.

Historical Information
The College of Arts and Sciences was founded in 1856 as the “Collegiate Department of Washington University”; it was renamed the “College” in 1871. In 1923 the department’s name changed to the “College of Liberal Arts,” and subsequently to the “College of Arts and Sciences” in 1965.
