Collection Note

This collection contains 70 different promotional posters for The Saturday Evening Post. These broadsides were used at newsstands to promote the latest issue of the magazine with text above or below the enlarged image of that week’s front cover and, occasionally, an interior article or a short story.

The cover artwork features a number of the heavy-hitting Saturday Evening Post talents: John Falter, George Hughes, John Clymer, Thornton Utz, Steven Dohanos, Amos Sewell, Constantin Alajalov, and others. The posters depict popular aspects of American life during the 1950s and feature a number of topics ranging from teenage dating, fashion, popular music, social commentary, and rural life.
