Series 7: Studio Durham Architects Digital Files

 Series

Series 7 contains Studio|Durham office material and project files and information. Office material includes photographs, marketing material, newsletters, award submittals, emails and correspondence, presentation drawings, construction code/reference material, articles about projects, intra-office reference material, building/fixture manuals/catalogs, etc. Project files contain information about jobs including invoices, contracts, photographs, specifications, meeting notes, construction documents, field reports, reference material, etc.

Project files correspond to the job numbers. Each project folder is labeled with the number and name and/or address of the property. The physical files contain much of the same material as the digital files. Digital files may contain more documents and photographs. Physical material may be annotated. Digital project files include specifications and plans created with AutoCAD and other 3D design software which require proprietary software to view.

Office files also correspond with physical office material.

For a full list of available digital material see the Digital Material Job List here.

Appraisal

The majority of the born-digital files were acquired on a 1 TB external hard-drive which contained Apple time-machine backup files from 2011 – 2018. The last time-machine backup from November 17, 2018 was transferred to the archive. The backup contained a Boot HD and Storage HD directory. Boot HD contained system files native to Apple and was deleted. The Storage HD contained all of the Studio Durham working files and was retained. External hard-drive is no longer functional and has been discarded.

Processing Information

Born-digital portion of the collection processed by Robert Manley in 2019 and 2023. The born-digital files were received on an Apple 1TB external hard-drive, 82 optical disks and 2 floppy disks. Files were copied from the external hard-drive in 2019 and the disks in 2023. Files were not reformatted, and file names are original to the creator. Original disks were retained as backup and stored in the Film and Media vault.
