Iwanami Bunko: Global Classics in Translation After WWII
Scope and Contents
Originally started publication in 1927, “Iwanami Bunko/岩波文庫” has a century-long history in spreading and popularizing esteemed classical titles in literature and broader academia around the world through its publication in Japan by the affordable format of a paperback. Although each title is not searchable on the University Libraries Catalog, East Asian Library holds as many as 700 titles, primarily published from 1945 to 1965, which are searchable on the Excel Sheet here.
Each title is categorized in one of the three LC# starting with B (Philosophy, Religion, History, and Natural Sciences), R (Literature), and W (Social Sciences).
Also, links are provided for users unfamiliar with the Japanese language to navigate them to the same author info on the Washington University Libraries catalog. Currently, all the titles are located in the basement of EAL General Stack.
