This collection contains 18 original illustrations by Charles Johnson. Johnson had aspirations of becoming a cartoonist from a young age and ended up publishing comic strips in his college newspaper, the Daily Egyptian. After college, Johnson continued making editorial cartoons that focused on Black life and civil rights.

Original artwork for a comic strip featuring a cast of characters: Harcourt Jones, known as Fudgie, his friend Leroy Brown, his romantic interst Lula, and Lula's sister Emmie, a romantic interest of Leroy. The comic strip depicts Fudgie in different scenes of daily life: with his dog, Elivs, at the doctor's office, barber, socializing with Leory, and at home with Lulla.
